POM-POM

Shot by the talented Michael John Hughes

Pom Pom Cap by Country Road (shop here)
Vision Fleece Sweat by Assembly Label (shop here)
Skirt by Marc by Marc Jacobs (shop here)

I have always been a sucker for pom pomTs. he appeal in high school was that it got me out of sport if I could claim to be "cheer squad" no kicks or dancing but gave me an excuse to make pom poms and dress up in theme so I was all for it. So I spotted this hat in CR a month or so back and at first I left it in store worrying that I wouldn't actually wear it. But after a night of not being able to get my mind off it I returned the next day to make it mine.

Classics like my-go-to Marc Jacobs skirt & favourite basics brand Assembly were a must to keep the outfit all about the cap.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend, I am currently sitting on my bed on the floor of my new place with chaos surrounding so I will be happy to finally settle in and get back to my normal pace.

OUT OF ACTION

Hi lovers this is just a Sunday night message to replace my usual Sunday night personal style post. I am currently in a state of chaos which would explain my slight slackness on the blog front so I thought I would let you in on what's going on!

For the last few months Michael and I have been searching for the perfect rental, wait, not even perfect but just enough to keep us both happy. I have realised since working from home, the environment in which I surround myself is super important. So after countless disappointments of not getting places we liked, places going the day the were advertised and shitty agents that never turned up to appointments we finally found a place and within 2 hours of looking at it we were approved. I'm not a 'everything happens for a reason' type of gal but come on.. The same week my family home sold and my older brother signed a contract on a house.

So as you can imagine everyone going in different directions all at once is chaos. I'm sure if you follow me on instagram (@jasminedowling) you have seen snippets of the new place, which just consists of plants, one chair, and some kitchen utensils at the moment. But with furniture going in this week let's hope I make it 'home' this weekend.

This is where working for yourself is not ideal which is why the next collection has been sitting in my studio the last week or so still in it's packaging from the printers. I promise you though, it is worth the wait. It is hands down my favourite yet.

Anyway so if you were wondering why there hasn't been much posting lately, I can assure you I haven't just been watching re runs of girls and eating popcorn like I wish I was doing.

AS EYE SEE IT

As you would all know by now, I am a huge eyewear fan. Since my eye sight seems to be holding up I am a fein for sunglasses so I thought it was about time I share some of my favourites that are always in my car and where to buy less expensive alternatives.

MY ULTIMATE

After wearing Karen Walker frames for the last few years and trying out different styles I finally got this Harvest style and was instantly in love. Since putting them on my face I have hardly taken them off and are definitely my ultimate pair. I think it is their combination of thin metal sides and bridge with the oversized round tortoise frame that I loved in my other styles. Now these retail for just over the $300 mark so definitely not for everyone. If you are loving them though make sure to check ebay for them new with tags around $150. I also found a similar style called Paris in brand Oscar Wylee from $98. ps. You can get the Oscar Wylee Paris style with prescription too!

OVERSIZED
Now this style has been a long time favourite and was my first ever pair of KWs. I love them so much so that I bought the same style in a tortoise and limited edition gold (below) These are more of an oversized rounder style. Perfect when you want to hide / have no make up on and huge bags under your eyes. Again these will set you back around $300 mark again but I have also gone searching for some similar styles:

GET NOTICED
These are the definitely the most lavish eyewear I own, the gold detailing are actually Karen Walker's iconic little skulls and critters. I made these mine after stalking ebay for months and I am so glad I did. They don't get worn everyday but when they do they never go unnoticed. I have listed some other decorative / out there frames that are worth a browse.

ROUND / PILOT
These are the newest shades to my collection. They are the perfect type of "different" They are classic in their materials but slightly out there in their goggle like form. To me they are the perfect alternative to Aviators, still sporting that Pilot vibe. These are by eyewear geniuses Sunday Somewhere.

REFLECTIVE

I think this may be the only time white framed sunglasses will make it into my collection. Reflective lenses have been in for a while now but I am still loving the trend from these to reflective aviators. These shot above are from ROC Eyewear, a brand that is currently killing it in the eyewear arena.

Due to my head being all over the place I completely forgot a pair when shooting. My last favourite style to wear is the modern cat eye style. I have listed below some of my

As always these have been shot by Michael John Hughes

ps. is it bad that now all I want to do is buy some new eyewear after writing this post?
